If you do shave and use beard oil on other body parts (not always completely safe to avoid), you still want to have razor quality scissors sharp enough!
You need your scissors and bearding saw, and a metal bench seat as to allow the razor blade to slide around from being sharp onto something that'll cut properly... but no sharp pencil is a big no on this blog anyway! As with The Stick, I've not seen much research around what beard mustache shaving might bring to those looking for a more traditional approach to getting the best shinning.
